Completed Engineering/Degree . So what next ???

I think everyone has faced this situation and still many are facing this situation. Well honestly speaking even i have faced this situation too often. Before going to my point of view .Let me just tell you that there are 2 kinds of people (With respect to my above title).



Hahaha Now i think you all might be wondering wat the hell is the above 2 types. But some might have already got my point i guess.Well dont worry folks let me explain it to you.

1.What is Overprepared:-

Overprepared ¬†people are the one’s who just keep on putting options into their carrier.In simple terms the person would have planned for almost all the possible future career options in his final year itself.For example he might be thinking of getting placed in a good MNC, Next he might have applied for CAT for MBA, He might be also aiming for MTech, Further more he might be preparing for GRE. And to add icing to the cake he might be into Civil service exams as well. Yes i have seen so many overprepared people in my life. The biggest disadvantage / problem of this is that. You end up thinking too much. ¬†And you wont be having any fixed plan/goal with you. You just will be dependent on all the options. Its just like “Jack of all and Master of none”.

2.What is underprepared:-

The Best example i can take here is of my own example. Yes people who are underprepared suffer a lot. Under prepared means the person who just dont have a backup plan. He will be so confident or probably over confident about himself such that he forgets the ¬†fact that “if he fails to get what he had intended for “??Let me give you my example to explain it well.Though i was a meritorious student in my college i couldnt get placed in any company. Now actually my plan was to get placed in a good MNC during my final year. I was so confident or probably “Over-confident ” of getting placed into the companies that i forgot to have a back-up plan. I never thought i would be left wit no plans. I never planned for MTech, MBA , GRE. And i faced a lot of problem After my engg. Actually many faced due to the same attitude.


Now coming back to what is to be done after Engg. or Degree. Friends just have a back-up plan. I mean If your main plan fails , you can go with back-up plan. Now i mean back-up plan here not plans. So have just a single or at the max 2 back-up plans, so that you can concentrate on those plans and achieve it or excel in it.

Some great Career opportunities after Engineering or Degree.(Which probably i missed out):-


1.MTech :-

Yes this is the most common plan or back-up plan by an engineering student.But the greatest advantage of doing MTech is achieved if and only if you do well in your GATE and get into top IIT’s, NIT’s or some good colleges. Because if you do your PG in top colleges you will have a great future and value. So doing MTech for namesake is equal to not doing MTech. So prepare well for GATE and crack it.


Well many people go into MBA stream just because they hate their core(engg students ) MBA offers and boasts of a great future, and even greater salary. But MBA in some premier institutes will give u an edge over others . The best way to get into top colleges is by giving CAT, SNAP, MAT, XAT etc. But to crack them you require a lot of planning , hard work etc.



Yes this is one of the most chosen destinations or careers by the Engineers nowadays.The most preferred destination is USA. If you are able to crack GRE and have a good financial background than this is the perfect Recepie for you. You need to get into top Colleges in USA and once you complete MS than money will be flowing your way. You need convincingly very good English and you need to be good with the words to crack the exam.

4.Bank exams:-

Yes many people do apply for Bank exams, most probably for the post of P.O(Probabtionary Officer). Now you might be wondering why do they apply for Bank exams. The reason is sorry reason are because many advantages are there. Firstly you will be paid very well, i mean salary wise and you have great allowances as well, and probably many will love the work.

5.Civil services:-

This is one of the fast growing sector nowadays. Not only engineers  but all graduates are working hard for these civil services, few of the posts that people are aiming are for IAS, IPS etc. The future is excellent and perfect if u get into these. But the biggest problem is to crack these exams , they as tough as hell. People waste or rather invest their precious 2-3 yrs justfor preparing and cracking the exam. But once you do it you will be the Boss. I mean the amount of respect what you get is great, Salary is even greater and the allowances, the benefits are infinite. So people love to take their chances in Civil services.


If you wont get any of these above than the final option left wit the person is job. But mostly ¬†people go to job or join companies just because of having left with no choice , not wantingly. The Best option for the people who just are not into their work or not liking it. They can take some 1-2 yrs exp and go for Higher education or try for some other competitive exams. And the one happy with their jobs and people who got their dream jobs they need to think too much just carry on with your work and go with the flow…..

Top 5 job destinations.

Here are the list of top 5 cities which are having huge amount of openings for jobs related  to people of IT(Information Technology), Mechanical,Electronics, Civil(Construction sector).

The list consists of only the South Indian cities.

So the list is as follows:-


Well  many people would be expecting the name Bangalore, but the fact is that Chennai has defeated Bangalore in terms of current job openings. Chennai has got huge amount of openings especially for IT , Govt sector and BPO jobs.


Now comes the Silicon city, Bangalore. Bangalore has got huge amount of openings for Software people , but the only drawback is that the ratio of people applying to the job is far more higher than other cities ex.Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad. People from all over the South i,e Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai have come all way to Bangalore bcoz of the IT hub, hence there is a slight downfall in the jobs.


Pune has come up very quickly and it has been making a remarkable growth in the field of IT. Now most of the companies have shifted their focus to Pune. Pune is said to be hotshot for COMPUTER SCIENCE , ELECTRONICS &COMMUNICATIONS students. There has been a remarkable growth in the field of jobs in Govt sector. Ways of searching jobs

Not many people realize it, but the job-hunting is one of the most tough and very difficult task and yet easy if you can handle it.

If this is done with patience and knowledge than it will be not much of a trouble else if this is done in a hurry than really this is a headache , trouble etc etc. Let me illustrate what I mean.

Most job-hunters think there are basically only three ways to go about their job-searching: 1.Resumes( i mean just keep on forwarding resumes to many people)

2Ads(ads on newspapers, internet etc)

3.Consultancies or through Institutes.



Actually, there are many:-

1. Using the Internet to search for job.This is the basic way ,though you need to keep on searching online its better.ANd keep on sending (posting) your resumes as much as possible.

2.Mailing out resumes to employers at random.This means to your seniors(working) or professionals whom you know directly or indirectly.

3.Reading local newspaper ads.This is a must , keep on reading newspapers daily.Companies post job even in newspapers.

4.Visiting ¬†private companies (small one’s) just looking for openings or searching companies and just enquiring about the openings or the company .(believe me its a good practice i have done that personally).

5.Just visiting the job fairs. Yeah dont leave any job fair or any recruitment drive that is held. Just attend it, joining the company on selection is secondary. Because you will get exp. and exposure. I have made this mistake of not attending few job fairs or companies due to package or heavy rush(job aspirants).Dont leave any damn opportunity.

6.Writing job oriented exams . There are many exams which you can look for.AMCAT- This helps in getting to the companies.

GATE- Yes this exam is not only for MTech purpose , You can apply for many PSU’s.

7.Govt or Civil exams.Here there is a lot of scope for many people who are not from IT field.You can write many Civil exams like:-

a.Bank exams

b.Transport service exams.(APSRTC, KSRTC)

c.Railway exams.

d.Public service exams.

e.Even many big big govt companies conduct exams like ONGC, NPTCL etc .Here the packages are skyrocketing and yes you will have everyrhing.

8. Asking a former professor for job-leads. Here it means that you need to discuss with your seniors or any professionals who is expert in that particular filed ,why because you need to have a proper guidance also.They will be a lot of help to you.

9. Knocking on the door of any company or office that interests you, whether they are known to have a vacancy or not. As i mentioned earlier also, just keep your interest intact and just keep on visiting companies do that you get to know the professional world.

10. Doing what is called “the creative approach to job-hunting or career-change”: doing homework on yourself, to figure out what your favorite and best skills are; then doing face-to-face interviewing for information only, at organizations in your field; followed up by using your personal contacts to get in to see, at each organization that has interested you, the person-who-actually-has-the-power-to-hire-you .This is actually the best way i suppose.

Consultancy Troubles

Consultancies……Hmm Wow the word sounds so damn familiar right?? Yup it indeed is , i think everyone out there are having high hopes on Consultancies. But just keep your nerves intact …nt because i am holding your nerve bt i want to you to hold your own nerve. Let me tell you why. Actually there are lot of fake consultancies out there.Hahahaa dont get angry on me for occasional use of the word fake( par kya kare aaj kal toh pure fake ka zamana hai). But now coming back to serious issues, i am not against consultancies ,but i just want you people to please make sure to get the complete knowledge about the consultancies before joining it.

Now let me tell why. Because most of the consultancies before joining gives 100% placements guaranteed.But watch out friends , no one provides 100% placements guaranteed, …by nw u might be scolding me..hahaha…Wait let me complete first.K i meant no consultancies provide 100% placements because it depends on the individual as to how he performs in the interview. And choose the consultancies which gives you great assistance to companies , that means just select the consultancies which can give u a lot of interviews with companies. So that you can get a good experience of the interview and you may crack it. And just make sure you dont pay them a single penny unless u get original joining letter or offer letter ( in case u get selected).

How to make a detailed enquiry about Consultancies????

Some Methods:-

1.Just track the history about it.(How long its running?Who started)

2.Just go through their procedures.(Like wat all they charge? How many companies are in contact with them? Are the companies good and genuine?)

3.Just ask the seniors of that consultancies ( people who went der before u)

4.Best think to do .Google it.

5.Make sure they have real references.I mean some consultancies bring some guy and say he is H.R of xyz company. They even give fake offer letters so just make sure they have geniune references



How to know whether the Consultancy is fake???

Some Methods

1.Just Google about it and find its reviews.( Ex:- Consultancy_Name reviews)

2.If a consultancy asks you any amount on advance , never pay them .Because most consultancy never as money in advance.

3.If the consultancies not ready to reveal the company names with whom they are in contact , never join such .

4.If a consultancy not providing you anything(details) in written then dont risk your money. Because always have a written proof from them.

5.Also use your brain. Just dont blindly join any consultancies  , make sure you think and have a cleared look at it.

6.Never pay any amount for writing the company(interview) exam because consultancies wont charge for exam, they just charge form you if you are selected into the companies.

7.Never join a consultancies which asks you to pay 50k or 1lac in advance for joining the big MNC’s. They just fool around you.

I am just telling you all because i have myself seen a lot of fake consultancies promising students with jobs and fooling them . And most of my friends lost their money bcoz of this and this is the reason why i never tried for any consultancies.

But not all consultancies are Bad or corrupt , Few are even very good. Just join the right one…….
